Wits Business School is a research focused school
Wits University strives to be at the leading edge of the Global South by making a positive impact on society through creating and advancing global knowledge and through fostering graduates to be leaders with integrity. Wits currently focuses on four areas, namely (i) advancing a shared identity, (ii) pursuing academic excellence, (iii) achieving social impact, and (iv) ensuring its own sustainability.
Wits Business School (WBS) strives to develop the next generation of ethical business leaders who are driven to leave this world in a better place than they found it. Research is inextricably linked to nurturing critical thinkers and, in business, it is regarded as an essential management skill needed to identify and solve problems. WBS students learn to collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate information. The school itself produces and disseminates relevant and impactful knowledge, structured around its six core disciplinary areas: (i) general management, (ii) entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy, (iii) finance and investment, (iv) digital business, (v) sustainability through philanthropy and social investment, and (vi) sustainability and energy. This is supported by the work of several centres and research chairs based at the school.
The Impact of our research
WBS encourages good quality peer-reviewed research. This is the bed rock on which the advancement of knowledge and understanding of dynamic business process in the 21st Century. However, it not the end point. Indeed, we encourage our faculty and postgraduate students to share their intellectual capital so that it influences debate, policy development and business advancement.
