Brigitta Jordaan, Lecturer: Entrepreneurship
Brigitta brings with her over a decade of experience in integrating theoretical research with practical application through design thinking and ideation. Her focus is on diverse projects that combine innovation with strategic development, utilising critical thinking methodologies to transform ideas into impactful realities across various sectors. She looks forward to contributing to the WBS team in her role as lecturer in entrepreneurship.
Dr Neo Mokone, Lecturer: Philanthropy and Social Investment
Dr Neo Mokone holds a PhD in Development Studies and a Master of Management in African Philanthropy. He has co-authored a book titled: Social Policy in Southern Africa: Prospects and Possibilities and published book chapters and several papers in accredited journals. He also has over 10 years of experience in local government. Dr Mokone is looking forward to bringing his diverse experience to the Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI) to foster academic growth and contribute to the development discourse.
Ravi Pillay, Lecturer: Business Strategy
Ravi Pillay is a global FMCG executive with more than 25 years leadership experience, including board and senior strategic roles at Nestlé, diplomatic service as South Africa’s Commercial Attaché in Switzerland, and five years of lectureship at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). He currently serves on multiple boards, including Food Forward SA and Consumer Goods and Service Ombud (CGSO). Ravi also co-founded the Food Safety Leadership Initiative (FSLI) in June 2025 and joins WBS to establish the FSLI and lecture in strategy, stakeholder management, and food safety leadership. Ravi brings a rare combination of global FMCG leadership, deep African market experience and international exposure across Europe and the United States. Over his career, he has worked at the intersection of business, government and society, helping organisations navigate growth, complexity and change in some of the world’s most dynamic markets.
For our MBA and PDBA students, Ravi offers something powerful: real-world insight into how strategy, stakeholders and execution come together in practice, from boardrooms and supply chains to public–private partnerships and sustainability-driven transformation.
Dr Sylvester Horvey, Lecturer: Research Methodology and Project Management
Dr Horvey holds a PhD from Wits, and his research interests include risk management, insurance economics, development economics, finance and investment, digital innovation, and enterprise risk management. He has over five years of experience in teaching and research and was previously a postdoctoral fellow at WBS. He currently serves as Assistant Editor of the Wits Business Review and as Director: Advancement, Research and Communications at the African Review of Economics and Finance (AREF) Consult.
Prof Rutendo Hwindingwi, Adjunct Professor: Business Strategy
Prof Hwindingwi is an advisor, speaker and thought leader on business in Africa. He has authored two books: Reflections of a Son of the Soil and Rumble in the Jungle Reloaded (Jacana). Prof Hwindingwi is the founder and CEO of Tribe Africa Advisory, a firm which works with multinational companies and governments in growing their pan-African strategies. He is a non-executive board director of both the American Chamber of Commerce and the British Chamber of Commerce in South Africa. He holds a PhD from WBS.
