MBA Class of 1998 Celebrates Special Reunion
WBS MBA Class of 1998 celebrates 28 years of connection and shared memories
Twenty-eight years after first meeting at Wits Business School (WBS), members of the MBA Class of 1998 came together for a special reunion weekend at Cradle Moon Lodge in Muldersdrift from 18–20 September 2026.
The weekend offered former classmates an opportunity to reconnect, reminisce about their MBA journey and reflect on the personal and professional paths they have travelled since 1998.
The highlight was a gala dinner on Saturday evening, where photographs, laughter and memories set the tone for an evening of celebration. Prof Mills Soko, Director of Development and Partnerships represented WBS and Alumni Relations, Prof Jones Odei-Mensah, the school’s Academic Director, and Dr Ramona Baijnath, the chairperson of WBS Alumni Association. The formal programme included addresses by Prof Soko and Dr Geoff Heald, a former faculty member at WBS.
“It was truly amazing to reconnect with the class of 1998, who returned not just as alumni, but as leaders, pioneers, and as family. Their presence in such numbers and with such high spirits was a powerful testament to the enduring bonds forged at WBS,” said Prof Soko.
A roving microphone brought the evening to life as classmates shared stories from 1998, recalling memorable lectures, experiences and moments that have remained with them for almost three decades.
Dr Lloyd Kaseke served as the key convenor of the reunion, while Mr Mike Clare guided the gala programme as master of ceremonies.
The Class of 1998 also includes Wits University Chancellor Dr Judy Dlamini, who was unable to attend the reunion due to prior commitments.
With their sights already set on their 30-year reunion in September 2028, the group is calling on classmates with whom they have lost contact to reconnect and join the next celebration.
Twenty-eight years on, the weekend demonstrated that while careers and lives may take classmates in different directions, the relationships formed at Wits Business School can endure for decades.
