Healthcare Leadership Students Visit CT Bauer College in Texas

Wits Business School (WBS), through its MBA in Healthcare Leadership programme, concluded a successful International Business Tour in June 2025 in partnership with the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, Texas.

This in-person experience enabled WBS students to engage in structured business reflective discussion sessions facilitated by Prof Edward Kroger of the Bauer Business School, and to visit world-renowned healthcare institutions such as the Texas Medical Center, Houston Methodist Hospital, and DePelchin Children’s Center. The experience provided a platform for examining leadership, governance, cost management, and health equity through the lens of large-scale, high-performance health systems.

The tour underscored WBS’s commitment to enabling healthcare leaders to learn from diverse contexts, adapt global operational strategies to local realities, and lead transformation with insight and innovation. Importantly, the focus was not on exporting models but on mutual institutional exchange, with WBS students critically reflecting on what lessons could be practically applied to South Africa’s own healthcare challenges.

The collaboration with Bauer Business School affirms WBS’s ongoing efforts to engage in professional partnerships that are both context-aware and leadership-focused. As part of WBS’s broader mission, the tour complements other strategic programmes designed to deepen experiential learning and international exposure for its MBA students.

In a complex and shifting global environment, WBS continues to deliver internationally engaged yet locally grounded learning experiences, building agile and values-based leadership for Africa’s future healthcare systems.
