Doctor Nomhle Ngwenya
Energy Leadership
Dr Nomhle Ngwenya is a Lecturer at the African Energy Leadership Centre, Wits Business School. She holds a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand and brings extensive experience from corporate banking, asset management and consulting, both locally and internationally. Her expertise spans environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing, sustainability, climate finance and climate related risks. Her research interests examines the role of ESG in the energy transition, climate risks in the energy transition and climate finance instruments such as green bonds, and she has published widely on the development of the green bond market in Africa. Dr Ngwenya serves on the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) and on the KwaZulu-Natal Climate Change and Sustainable Development Council.
