Tourism as a catalyst for economic development in South Africa

More than 10 million international tourists arrived in South Africa in 2016, 13% more than in 2015. This is good news for a sector that remains a key driver of South Africa’s national economy and a major contributor to job creation and employment. How can we keep the momentum going and ensure that the sector continues to impact economic development in South Africa?

Wits Business School is delighted to welcome Sisa Ntshona, CEO of South African Tourism, who will deliver a public lecture on tourism in South Africa and ways in which stakeholders can work together to boost the sector for the greater good of the country.

Sisa will focus on the following key points:

  • The importance and relevance of tourism within the SA economy
  • A ‘5-in-5’ growth strategy: a market investment framework
  • Transforming through inclusive growth
