Public Lecture: The Future of (our) Jobs: should we be worried?
How long will it be until computers take over some of our jobs? How worried should we be? Or is all this talk about automation and the changing world of jobs over-hyped and sensationalised?
If one considers the history of work, various inventions resulted in ‘revolutions’ but no-one could have predicted the impact of change. Within the industrial revolution, people said steam would do away with work, electricity would wipe out jobs and computers would reduce the amount of work. None of these things happened.
Is it different this time?
Wits Business School is pleased to invite you to a public lecture by Professor Brian Armstrong in which he tackles the fascinating topic of the future of jobs as we know them. He will consider these questions:
- What does the future look like?
- What do we as individuals need to do to prepare for this future?
- What do we as organisations need to do to help prepare our people?
Professor Brian Armstrong heads up the Chair of Digital Business at Wits Business School. He is a highly regarded speaker and thought leader in digitilisation, convergence and business strategy. Click here for speaker bio
