Energy Seminar: Women entrepreneurs in the Energy Industry – celebrating successes and overcoming challenges
Over the past four years, Maurice Radebe, Executive in Residence at Wits Business School has hosted a series of seminars in conjunction with WBS. The seminars focus on energy industry matters, highlighting opportunities and challenges to address the major Sub-Saharan African issues of poverty, unemployment and inequality.
It is fitting, in the month of August, to celebrate women entrepreneurs in the energy industry. As with other technical industries, it has been, traditionally, extremely difficult for women to carve a career path in the energy industry. However, there are a few noteworthy South African women who have taken their careers a step further and become successful entrepreneurs and business owners in the industry.
This seminar will explore the journeys of three South African businesswomen in the energy industry and share in their successes. Our guest speakers will also discuss the challenges they experienced and the mechanisms they used to overcome them. The speakers are:
- Mrs Pam Indurjeeth, Director: Oryx Oil South Africa
- Ms Nona Chili, Managing Director: Makwande trading
- Ms Nokwanele Qonde, Managing Member: WASAA Gasses
The seminar is sponsored by Oryx Oil South Africa.
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion as well as an interactive audience Q&A session.
Booking is essential.
