CAPSI Seminar Series - Contributions of the Non-Profit Sector to the Creation of Dignified and Fulfilling Work for Young People in Africa

The Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI) at Wits Business School is conducting a research project titled "Contributions of the Non-Profit Sector to the Creation of Dignified and Fulfilling Work for Young People in Africa". This initiative, funded by the Mastercard Foundation, is the first of its kind to focus on this important theme across the African continent.

As part of the project, CAPSI, in collaboration with several autonomous African-led networks of researchers and institutions from 17 African countries, has comprehensively reviewed existing literature regarding the non-profit sector's contributions to youth employment in Africa. This review, which has been published, highlights trends, identifies gaps in current research, outlines areas for future investigation, and proposes policy recommendations. Additionally, it amplifies African voices and promotes their agency.

CAPSI is pleased to invite you to a webinar where the key findings of the literature review will be presented. It will mark the launch of the published synthesis and country literature review report. This event will be attended by scholars, including representatives from the 17 partner institutions and individuals from non-profit organisations, government agencies, businesses, youth organisations, and development partners.

The objectives of the webinar are to:

  1. Share current knowledge with stakeholders to enhance their understanding of how the non-profit sector contributes to job creation for African youth;
  2. Highlight key areas that need intervention to strengthen the capacities of non-profit organizations (NPOs) in creating dignified and fulfilling jobs for young people on the continent, and
  3. Encourage feedback and discussions that will improve the analytical rigour in the subsequent phases of the research project.

We look forward to hosting you.
