Industry and Professional Experience:
I’m a practitioner-scholar interested in the interface between business education (management & leadership development) and Organisational psychology. I’m a registered Industrial/Organisational Psychologist and hold a PhD in the discipline. I'm the Course Lead for the Leadership Quest module of the newly launched MBA in Healthcare Leadership Programme. I co-lecture the Leadership Quest module on the general MBA with the Programme Director, Dr Gobind. I held the Programme Director (PG-Dip in Energy Leadership) role within the AELC and was a Programme Director in the Wits Business School Executive Education Division for leading corporate clients in the Automotive and Insurance sectors. I've trained delegates across management levels within the following sectors: Automotive, Insurance, Mining, FMCG, Management consulting, Telecommunications, Agriculture and Banking. My scope of practice includes Psycho-legal assessment for employability.
My approach as a consultant and subject-matter expert is to empower employees (leaders, directors, managers) by enabling them to understand what happens to and around them in the organisational context. Armed with such insight, my clients are better positioned to intervene when required and effectively cope with/absorb any shocks within their professional context. I pair clients’ self-awareness with mechanisms to combat workplace stressors that subvert performance.
My approach is embedded in psychological science for maximum impact. I use a Rogerian therapeutic approach to centre my clients’ needs and experiences, whilst facilitating understanding, directing learning, interpreting their workplace experiences and clarifying misperceptions.
Psycho-legal assessment for employability: I have collaborated with medical experts and lawyers, towards the assessment and compensation of clients who have been injured in motor-vehicle accidents or have suffered medical negligence. Psychometric testing and assessment applied for the following purposes: personality assessment and interest measurement for career guidance and counselling; when selecting candidates into the MBA, MM & PDM programmes; as well as vocational assessment at the school level (grade 8 – grade 12 learners)
I am a Full Member of SIOPSA (Society for Industrial & Organisational Psychology).
