Why should we care about stress in the workplace?
More than 40% of all work-related illness is due to work-related stress, major depression, burnout and anxiety disorders, according to the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG). This is costing South Africa as much as 5.7% of the country’s GDP due to lost productivity among the country’s economic contributors aged 25 to 44.
Wits Business School invites you to explore the topic of stress in the workplace with health and performance facilitator Richard Sutton
Richard consults with leading companies on stress resilience, employee engagement and productivity, and has worked with many top-tier athletes, including Kevin Anderson, Martina Navratilova, Ryk Neethling and Maria Sharapova. He is the author of the book The Stress Code (Pan MacMillan).
In this public lecture, Richard will explore:

  • The burden of stress from both an economic and health standpoint
  • The principal drivers of stress within the work environment
  • What you can do to promote a performance culture in your organisation
