Against a backdrop of succession debates, a possible cabinet reshuffle and the ever-present ‘Guptagate’, President Zuma will deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address (SoNA) on Thursday 9th February.
The theme for SoNA 2017 is: “The Year of Oliver Reginald Tambo: Unity in Action Together Moving South Africa Forward.” The president is expected to address sustained slow economic growth, rising youth unemployment, the tertiary education funding crisis and the government’s nuclear build plan, among others. 2017 looks set to be another tough year economically, and another ‘interesting’ year politically.
Please join us on the morning after the SoNA broadcast for a breakfast discussion with our panel of speakers as they share their analysis and insights.
Our speakers:
- Professor Adam Habib – Vice Chancellor of Wits
- Dr Geoff Heald – Senior Lecturer, Wits Business School
- Ralph Mathekga – Independent political analyst
- Simon Freemantle – Senior Political Economist in Standard Bank’s global research team
- Moeletsi Mbeki – Political analyst and author
The discussion will be facilitated by financial journalist and TV and radio personality Siki Mgabadeli. Click here for speaker bios
