The township economy is bristling with growth potential.  Already, the township economy in South Africa is estimated to be worth around R220 billion. But, as Gauteng MEC for Economic Development Lebogang Maile notes, the lion’s share of this money leaves the township and ends up in the hands of those who control the means of production.

eKasi Entrepreneurs is committed to changing this by developing township entrepreneurship - exposing entrepreneurs to markets, public-private partnerships, social-innovation, enterprise and procurement development.

Wits Business School’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, in partnership with eKasi Entrepreneurs, is pleased to invite you to a panel discussion.  Facilitated by Chimene Chetty, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, the discussion will cover  the challenges and opportunities of the township economy, including policy, support and some solutions being developed.

Please join us as we unpack critical themes and issues to understand and grow an ecosystem for the development of sustainable township economies.

Booking is essential. We look forward to welcoming you to WBS!
