Master of Business Administration

Wits Business School will be a hosting a GMAT Preparation Course for prospective MBA students who have to sit for the GMAT. The course will run from Saturday to Monday, 07 – 09 August and 14 & 15 August 2010, from 08h30 to 17h30. The cost of the workshop is R4 500 payable before attendance and includes all course material. The GMAT textbook is not included. The course facilitators, Dr Trevor Wegner and Dr Ailsa Stewart-Smith, have extensive experience in preparing students for the GMAT.

Applicants should have obtained a bachelor's or higher degree from a recognized university or similar institution. In very exceptional cases an application from a person who holds a senior managerial position, who has many years of relevant business experience and is in possession of a qualification other than a degree may be considered.

Students who complete the PDM programme having shown above average academic performance and who have also had relevant business experience, are eligible to apply.

Recommended standards for admission

  • POST-UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE
    At least 3 years post-university experience is required, and applicants with more experience have a better chance of being selected.

  • MOTIVATION
    An applicant to the MBA degree is expected to be well motivated and to be conversant with the content of the MBA programme.

  • MATHEMATICS
    A level of competence equivalent to the requirements of the SA Matriculation certificate is advisable. A number of areas of the MBA degree such as Analytical Methods, Management of Operations and Technology and Corporate Finance require students to be able to think quantitatively and to have a reasonable level of mathematical ability.
